I'd like to welcome you to CaregiverSupportLink, a website for Alzheimer caregivers. The seeds for this project were planted in early 1980 soon after my father's diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease. It was then that I began my personal journey into the complex and compelling world of the Alzheimer caregiver.
During the course of my father's long illness, I often felt the weight of my responsibilities and struggled with many conflicting feelings. I also recall how difficult it was to balance the other parts of my life - professional and family - with my role as caregiver.
My personal experience with care giving and Alzheimer's disease, combined with over 25 years as a psychotherapist has given me a broad understanding of the challenges caregivers face every day.
If your answer to any of these questions is yes, CaregiverSupportLink can help! | |
- Do you feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease?
- Do you feel exhausted, lonely, frightened or isolated?
- Are you embarrassed by your loved one's behavior?
- Do you struggle to find time for yourself?
- Are you looking for others to talk to - people who understand what it means to be a caregiver of a loved one living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease?
There are many professionals who focus on the needs of caregivers, but fewer who focus on the unique concerns of Alzheimer caregivers.
The dynamic and committed professionals comprising the CaregiverSupportLink Team have all personally experienced many of the challenges you face today. Each and every one of us has been a caregiver. Each brings extensive qualifications and training to provide you with the most comprehensive support and resources available.

We recognize how tight a caregiver's schedule can be, so CaregiverSupportLink provides professionally facilitated telephone support groups as well as individual telephone sessions. In this way, you are able to fit support sessions into your busy day and, at the same time, exchange ideas with other caregivers from all across the country.
In addition to group and individual support, we also realize the importance of accurate, timely information, so you can make the right decisions in your role as caregiver. CaregiverSupportLink publishes a free monthly newsletter for Alzheimer caregivers and professionals.
Finally, CaregiverSupportLink maintains a carefully selected list of resources for Alzheimer caregivers. This list includes books, articles and videos as well as important state and national contacts.
I hope you find that CaregiverSupportLink offers the focused and effective help you've been looking for.
